About the author:
I am a recently graduated literature student, soon to be MA student, with a rapidly escalating interest in the cyberpunk genre, and to a lesser extent other postmodern and dystopian/post-apocalyptic fiction.
About the blog:
When Michel de Montaigne finished a book, he used to write his impressions of it on the rear inside cover. Cyberpunkism is somewhere for me to do the same. After a long time languishing as a half-congealed idea, I'm finally putting this blog together as a place for me to record my impressions, and write short reviews and longer critical analyses of cyberpunk works of film and literature.
I am hoping that with enough content and a system of tagging, this blog will not only contain my own personal/critical impressions of a work, but will also be a useful resource for those wanting to delve deeper into the cyberpunk genre and are looking for new, perhaps more specific, works in the field.
Expect Cyberpunkism to partly be an archive of works that fall under the cyberpunk umbrella, partly a place for me to keep track of the recurring themes, symbolism and techniques employed by the genre, and partly (and the foremost reason for me creating this blog) to be a useful source of source material and reference for my own academic work.
Disclaimer:
Everything posted on Cyberpunkism is the original work and property of the blog author (Joe R), and I do not give permission for it to be reused or reposted elsewhere.
I do however welcome collaboration and conversation. If you are interested in looking academically at the cyberpunk genre and would like to share thoughts and ideas, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me.
